Best Senior Golf Clubs

1. Tour Edge Bazooka 360 Senior

senior golf clubs tour edge

The Tour Edge Bazooka 360 Senior packaged set is our editor’s choice for golf clubs for seniors.

This set is specifically designed for senior golfers with the woods having more loft and all of the shafts being senior flex. The driver, fairway woods and hybrid are all oversized and feature very low CG and high MOI to launch the ball higher and straighter at impact and to be as forgiving as possible.

The irons and wedges are traditional lofts. They are also oversized clubheads with deep undercut cavities behind the clubface. This again lowers the CG and increases the perimeter weighting for more distance, launch and forgiveness.

The set also includes a premium cart bag with rain cover.

Pros

  • Oversized clubheads increase the MOI for more forgiveness
  • Lightweight senior flex graphite shafts in the woods and irons
  • Premium titanium and stainless steel used in the construction
  • Premium cart bag with raincover

Cons

  • A relatively large loft gap between the pitching and sand wedge

2. Callaway Strata 16 Piece Set

callaway strata golf set

Callaway is a classic golf brand that delivers value for old and young, pro and amateur, the world over.

The packaged Strata set is designed specifically for beginner golfers, but is equally good for seniors. The set features very easy-to-hit clubs with an adjustable 460cc driver, oversized woods and irons and regular flex graphite shafts throughout the set.

The driver has less loft than many other senior drivers, but still launches high with optimum spin thanks to the very low and deep CG and high MOI design.

The oversize woods and hybrid all have shallow profiles to make them easy to hit from any lie. The irons have wide soles and deep undercut cavities to push weight lower and further away from the face for an increased MOI.

Pros

  • High MOi design in all of the clubs means more stability and forgiveness
  • Lightweight graphite shafts in every club

Cons

  • A large loft gap between the pitching and sand wedge

3. Cobra F-MAX set

cobra senior golf set

This is a combination of all of the F-MAX individual clubs in one set and is said to be Cobra Golf’s most forgiving clubs to date. The senior set features offset woods and irons with draw weighting to promote a straighter ball flight. The shafts are all premium senior flex.

The irons feature a progressive design where the longer irons are designed to launch the ball higher and straighter while the shorter scoring irons are softer at impact and more geared towards precision and accuracy.

All of the clubs have midsize grips for added comfort. The set doesn’t include a gap wedge, but it can be purchased separately.

Pros

  • High quality materials and technology in the design
  • Perform exactly like the individual F-MAX clubs
  • Offset woods and irons with draw biased weighting ensures a straighter ball flight
  • Midsize grips improve comfort

Cons

  • Quite an expensive set, but you do get great quality for your money
  • Gap wedge is sold separately and should be purchased

4. Orlimar Spectrum Seniors set

olimar senior golf clubs

This is a premium complete set of golf clubs, including bag from a great brand. All of the clubs in the set, excluding the putter, are equipped with lightweight senior flex shaft and are designed to provide a high launch and plenty of forgiveness on mishits.

The woods are designed and manufactured using many different materials. This optimises the feel and performance through a lower and deeper CG and high MOI. The blend of these two attributes means longer and straighter shots. They all have headcovers included too.

The irons are cast from strong stainless steel and feature a cavity back design with most of the weight positioned behind the sweetspot. The cavity ensures the whole face area is hotter for improved consistency on mishits.

Pros

  • Titanium driver with a high loft to launch the ball high and far
  • Stainless steel fairway woods, hybrids and irons for long-lasting quality
  • High forgiveness on mishits
  • Headcovers for all woods
  • Lightweight stand bag with dual shoulder strap

Cons

  • Only 11 clubs in the set
  • No sand wedge

5. Founders Club RTP7 Black complete set

All of the clubs in the set, excluding the putter, are fitted with lightweight senior flex graphite shafts that increase clubhead speed and launch angle through the swing. The titanium driver is 460cc in size for maximum forgiveness and stability thanks to the high MOI.

The rest of the clubheads are made from quality stainless steel to improve distance and last longer.

Pros

  • Titanium driver with a high MOI design
  • Stainless steel fairway woods, hybrids and irons offer great distance
  • Soft insert in the putter face for improved feel
  • Large and lightweight cart bag with 14-way top divider
  • Very affordable set

Cons

Buyers Guide for Senior Golf Clubs

Design and feel

Seniors will generally tend to not hit the ball as far as younger golfers and therefore require golf clubs that will increase distance for them. This means using harder materials to increase ballspeed at impact. Packaged sets for seniors are mostly constructed using stainless steel and sometimes titanium as it makes the set more affordable and is long-lasting and easy to maintain.

Ease of use

Packaged sets for seniors will generally be designed with two aspects in mind, distance and forgiveness. As such, the woods generally have more loft and offset with very lightweight and soft graphite shafts. This helps to launch the ball higher from impact with a bit more kick in order to increase speed.

The irons and wedges will generally also have graphite shafts and are oversized clubheads with plenty of chunkiness and offset to provide more forgiveness on mishits and more time to square the clubface at impact.

Value for money

Obviously when looking at buying a packaged set of golf clubs you are considering price as one of the biggest considerations. Packaged sets are often more affordable overall than buying different clubs in the bag individually and include a golf bag too. Some brands will charge more for a packaged set, but in these instances the clubs in the set will be very similar if not the same as the individual clubs offered by the brand.

Been hooked on golf since I was 12 and lived on a golf estate while at school. Began to work in Golf Industry during university and spent a year on the Sunshine Tour as a media operator. Subsequently became deputy editor of Compleat Golfer in South Africa for 5 years, specializing in equipment and travel reviews. After that I became a consultant to a major golf chain, testing and reviewing all equipment. Also a Callaway custom fitter and play off a 2 handicap when actually getting the chance to play!

  1. do seniors sets come in long/tall. i am 6’1 and like the feel of longer clubs

    • Hi Ross, unfortunately senior sets only come in a standard length option, but if necessary (and if the shafts are steel of course – which is unlikely if they are senior clubs), you can have the shafts lengthened by a club fitter or by your course pro. Alternatively I suggest going for the Cobra Fly-Z 11 piece set or the 13 piece set. These are a great set of clubs that will last you a number of years.

  2. is the cobra fly z 11 piece or 13 piece set longer
